40547, oil leak Posted by maximus95esi, Dec-31-02 03:42 AM
alright, I just had a massive valve cover/tune up job done at a local import shop. Ever since, I have been losing shitloads of oil. Im not leaking any, or at least it just isn't reaching the ground, I don't know yet I haven't gotten under the car. I have noticed however that when in 1st and 2nd gears when I hit around 5k rpms that lots of blue smoke comes out the back, im not talking like a little cloud, its WAY visable in my rear view. The smoke only appears in 1st and 2nd around that rpm range. I have no clue as to what is going on, did the shop screw something up? My car just turned 100k a week ago but has had no problems till the valve covers were replaced. I was wondering if any of you have any thoughts on this matter, n/t by the way....thanks

do a compression check to see if your headgasket is blown, also maybe check the pcv valve to see if its working correctly.
I dont know exactly what you got done but the smoke out the tailpipe is a problem, but a compression check will verify if your headgasket is blown or not, and if you get bad numbers do the wet compression test with oil in the spark plug wells to see if its the piston rings vs a headgasket
