40419, Adjustable Cam Gear Question Posted by Az_Kikr, Dec-28-02 09:03 PM
Alright, here's a question for everyone with adjustable cam gears... which are better, the Fidanzas, or the AEMs?
I've heard only good stuff about the AEMs and how their new bolt design prevents slippage. I know nothing about Fidanza, besides what I just read on their website, and been able to scrounge from the forums (not much).
I've written to both Fidanza and AEM, as well. I'll update everyone on the word, straight from the horses mouth(s). Until then, I appreciate any and all opinions, thanks.

the fidanzasa are a good product noone on the neon boards has anything terribly bad to say they can be a little sloppy on the cam shaft because their tolerances and or machining perfection window is a tad larger them aems nice and tight tolerances... crane cam gears are very nice and cheap grab a set of those top notch many of the neon guys prefer the gears in order crane, aem, fidanza, obx,
thats not including crower gears because im not sure where they are in manufacturing i didn't pay attention because ive been looking for 2.4 gears aem are being slow turtles in getting the 2.4 gears out so ill probably buy the fidanzas...

Crowers adjustable cam gears "will be" made in house like all their products. But they are not available yet. Crower has a set of cam sprockets from me and will be making adjustable ones for us. I expect a 4 bolt design since the other ones from them are 4 bolt.
I think of what is available now the Crane's are the best.

It seems the cheapest place to get the AEM gears is at Modacar. They are $278/pair (plus shipping) there. The cheapest Crane gears are at Summit Racing. They are $296/pair (plus shipping) there... but we have a Summit store here in Reno, and they are notoriously "your most expensive alternative." Landspeed Racing sells the Cranes, too, but they don't list prices on their website. Thanks for the advice.
