4041, Oil catch can??? Posted by 9D9 MITSU RS, Jun-25-01 03:55 PM
OK, I need one for when i go turbo. How does it install? The ones I have seen have a breather on top, a hose that goes to the crank case, and then another hose that I think goes to an electric oil pump??? Do any work without the oil pump??? If so, where can I get one? Anyone have pics or install tips?

all a catch can is is a container that catches oil that is spit out of your crankcase breather line while still supplying ventilation. no seperate oil pump needed.

RRE sells a real nice one from GReddy. I don't know why you need a pump though. They are there just to catch the extra blow-by oil coming out of the valve cover breather. You just run a hose from your vent tube to the can and then either put a filter on the other fitting, run it back into the oil pan somehow, or just connect it to the air filter.
