40392, Clutch Slip Symptoms??? Posted by mitifto, Dec-28-02 09:27 AM
Some times when I'm driving my Rs-T and I give gas and change gears my rpms go up real quick but not like in neatural and my car doesn't mover any quicker. Happens in 2nd third and all other gears. Is this a clitch slip problem. Running turbo at 8 psi with stick rs clutch. Thanx for the help

well if your tires aren't spinning and your rpm's are going up without the car pulling, then sounds like its your clutch for sure. Time for a new one. Try and start the car from a stop in second gear, and see what happens. If you got a good clutch, then you should be able to get her movin without too much trouble.

also, go and check your master cylinder for fluid. mine was out and i thought i needed a new clutch, when really all i had to do was add fluid, then later bleed the clutch. the cylinder is under your hood on the drivers side, right next to the firewall. it is a little bottle with a cap you just pull off. and a little to the left of that is the brake fluid, which is a larger container. hope thats your problem. do you smell clutch burnin?

No clutch burning smell. Just added the turbo and sometimes it feels like the clutch isn't engageing fully so the revs go up without fully locking so I need to change gears without gaining speed.

I had put a centerforce dual friction clutch in and broke it in for likr 600 miles... then when i got on it hard it would slip. Felt like you had the clutch pedel pushed in half way and trying to drive it like that. I found that the slave cylinder was sticking in the disengaged position(as if you had the pedel pushed in) so when i would open the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder fluid would sqirt out and the cylinder would go back to it's normal engaged position. I replaced the slave cylinder, and it still did the same thing. Next i replaced my master cylinder and i still had the same problem. I asked around a lot and found that we have a rubber clutch hose that sometimes will collapse on the inside causing hydro lock, which some of you my know on brakes this happens. So i replaced that hose with an RRE Stainless steel hose it it works perfect now.

I thought we had a hard line running from the master to the slave? Alvin

well yes there is a hydrolic metal line but inbetween that there is about a 10 inch rubber hose(a brake line) it is a flex point .
