i just got a mig welder for christmas and now its time to start customizing things. what i am looking for is a picture of the underside of a car with dual exhaust so i can see how you ran your piping, where you split into two pipes? TIA

Wouldn't you want to TIG weld it, as you should be using stainless?

muffler shops gas eld the exhuast pipes the pipes after header dont need to be tig welded hell on HRC's its only clamped!

rre has some mandrel bends as well as many auto parts stores and stuff search for weld els companies that carry those should carry misc mandrel bends,

mig weldng will be fine u need to build a turbo manifold well or different if u use mig welding to get more strength because tig is definatly superior

how do you figure a dual exhuast would hurt performance? it would releave mor back pressure right?

No there is someone that has a dual exhaust. His sig says something about having the only dual exhaust on a 2gnt until proving wrong... or something like that. Help me out guys, I saw him post before. And he is turbo as well, I believe.

the eclipse you're talking about is white but I dont remember his nickname

Don't ask me why I remembered who I saw on this board with a dual exhaust but I did. His forum name is Dualgen2 and here is a picture of his car:




The only reason I remembered his name is because in his signature it says something to the effect of "the only turbo eclipse with dual exhaust to blow up on the dyno". I haven't seen him around lately but send him a private message or email and ask to see pictures of his setup.

Dual exhaust would sound awesome. Instead of a muffler that goes from low tone to high tone youd have 2 mufflers going from really low to like, normal low. I want it. Just for that.

Dual exhaust does sound awesome on a NA eclipse...Dave(Dualgen2) lives near me and ive heard his car. When he was NA, it sounded really deep and intimidating. After he got turbo, it lowered it, but still sounds cool. Talk to him about the details because his looks really professional in person, but i believe he told me it took away power when he was NA. According to what i remember him telling me though, if you want more performance and are staying NA, dont do it....but if you want an awesome deep sound or you plan to go turbo later, do it :thumbsup

you should not lose any performance, if you doing 2.5 exhaust piping then when you do the T use 2.25 for piping

The only way I would think you can lose performance is because a muffler slows air down, obviously. Cars would be faster without a muffler at all, but we need mufflers. So in response we put on big, high flowing mufflers. But, its still a muffler, so its still slowing air down. So I guess..... If half the air is going to one side and half to the other, then the speed has been slown down dramatically. So when it passes through the muffler it gets even slower. That makes no sense, I realize, because Im drunk, but if you get what Im saying. The air is slowing down breaking into two pipes then going through a muffler when its not as fast as normal anyways. Whatever!
