40167, jeep throttle body and Intake manifold Posted by Eagle 5, Dec-23-02 03:16 AM
i know that we can use the jeep throttle body with some modifications, but someone was telling me that we can use the intake manifold from the jeeps too. wouldnt this be much easier to do? or is he just an idiot? beside isnt the jeep intake mani a 6 cyclinder? or do they have a 4 cylinder with a 60 mm TB? mucho curious here.

yeah, our manifold can be modded to fit a jeep TB (port match), but a Jeep manifold would need more modding than it would be worth to fit in a 2GNT

the jeep tb we would use is the inline 6 4.0 ltr. and the throttle body is 55 mm stock u have to bore to get to 60. good luck getting that to fit....

ok. i thought the jeep TB was 60 mm but tappered down to 55 and that its possible to remove that setion so its 60 all the way through?
also, how much would an intake mani for a 2gnt cost from a junkyard? assuming its in normal condition and wasnt destroyed?

yeah just have it bored out to 60mm staight through, most machine shops should be able to do it for you. if you can't find anywhere to have it done, i can have it done for you for $25+shipping.

There's a link in my writeup on how to remove that taper with a drill press and a rotory file. I did it that way. 60mm all the way through...now if I can just find the time to port match my damn manifold. haha.
Here's the link that I used as a guideline to remove the taper. Umm, wow, I just found out that that link was broken. Well, here's the real link to it. I just fixed the link in the writeup. I needed to make a correction anyway - I credited Bill for possibly doing the alluminum block and it actually should have been Gary. Anyways - here's the real link: http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoTBboring.htm
Here's some pics of the porting I did on mine.
