My question is it really better for us 420A turbo guys? I still have to figure out the Corbin mod for the s-afc, but with whatever new features this thing has is it better to wait for it or just get a good deal on a S-AFC now? I'm in the market so I want to know before I spend the loot. Anyone?

it looks pretty similar to me, with the addition of a knock count/sensor....but we have to actulaly have a knock sensor..which we do not. So, until i learned more, i think the original is cool.

i don't think the AFC2 is avaiable yet. i hear it's suppose to be released just after christmas, but that's probably just advertising hype. if i were you, i'd just buy the original one and do corbin's MAP/TPS hack for the AFC. i'm thinking about doing the hack too.

as for the knock sensor, some people say that we have a knock sensor, some people say we don't. i'd imagine that we do, but i don't really know. it would be neat if we did indeed have one and the AFC could readout the level of knock.

the extra adjustment points seem cool too, but then again the current AFC doesn't just change the mixture every 1000 rpm's or so, it knows how to average the user's input (which i have found effective) so i don't really see much a problem there.

using a knob instead of buttons would be sick. i've always been a knob kid. analog this, analog that. the cool new display looks neat too, but i'm pretty happy with the current one.

so, to wrap it up:
i say buy the good old AFC1. say "screw it" and do it up "old skool" (guess the AFC1 is "old skool" now)

anyways, i think i'm done now.

Good points. But a few comments. Some say this thing won't be here in the States till around March, so that would mean a few months wait. The Jspec could be ordered but in Japanese instructions would be a PIA. Also someone noted the following on another board on why the knock might not work.

"Actually the correct reason is the OBD2 protocol does not transfer the knock value, but there is a wire for it (incoming from the knock sensor). It would be up to Apex to incorporate the correct filter for the knock sensor, which if they use a "universal" code could lead to very unreliable results. The TMO and DMSLINK loggers use a proprietary protocol to export what values they want, and at a much higher speed than the OBD protocol. You can be assured the knock readings with them are accurate." Valid point.

And I'm sure you meant this but to clarify by, old one, we mean the S-AFC with the screen. Not the true "old school" AFC that Apexi came one that had no screen and was a black box with various knobs on it.
