hey, i've been reading all the info on the final drive mod and kept hearing the reference about it only being for auto trannys. but my question is: if both auto and manual trannys have final drive gears, y can't this mod be done on manual trannys? i can tell that the gearing for all eclipse trannys r ludicrously tall and this mod would be one of the better mods i can imagine doing short of adding forced induction and the like.

We aren't geared that tall... But as for the final drive, I don't think that the transfer gears are the same, I think that it is a whole different setup, as the transmissions aren't even made by the same companies. I know that a NVG transmission out of a Saturn has a final drive of 4.11, which is rediculously short. I think this is usable, but would make 1st gear even more useless in the traction department then it is already.

granted, was just seeing if there was something similar being done to the manual trannys. thx for the input tho, there's one less thing to dick around w/ in my free time. :D

I recommend finding a used 2.4 to dick around with. :D
