The mechanic I was going to have install the pulley said it wouldn't work because I have two serpentine belts. He also told me I wouldn' feel a gain. He also said that some of my electrical functions wouldn't perform as well because the pulleys are designed to spin a certain speed. How big of a difference does it make? And Will it mess my stuff up?

did you take your car to satan to get your UDP installed? tell your mechanic that he's on crack if he can't install it, and it won't really affect your accesories much at all. you will feel a real gain, like some more torque down low and throttle response will be a little better. anyways, good luck with convincing him that it's not an evil UDP.

I took it my local mechanic. He said I need two serpentine belts but the pulley has a serpentine belt and a V belt so it wont work on my car. He said I need another pulley.

But really, he must be an idiot. Tell him to either install it or just go somewhere else. It fits... period.

It will not affect your accessories... period.

If he gives you a hard time, go elsewhere.

Or maybe you really do have the wrong belts? Are they the bando belts that come with the UDP? If so, they're right, but ditch them anyway, because they aren't that great. :9

He has belt numbers, and I highly recommend the goodyear gatorgrip belts.

Next, print out the install page, take it to your mechanic, and shove it in his face. Tell him that if he doesn't want your money, you take this job to someone else who isn't retarded.

first off, did you get the right pulley from afx??? the eclipse uses two V belts, and the neon uses (i think) one v belt, and one serpentine belt (on the crankshaft dampener pulley).

if the udp you received has a serpentine spot, and a v spot, then you have received the wrong pulley.

the correct pulley should have a spot for a 4 ribbd V belt, and a spot for a 5 ribbd V belt.

use my install writeup, and do it yourself... you will learn a lot about your car, and will be able to fix the belts if you ever throw em.

the afx pulley underdrives your accesories ~30%, which will probably increase the life span of them. it also knocks about 10 lbs of wieght outta the engine bay, and since the engine doesnt have to spin a huge pulley, your gains are realized through loss of inertia (basically, the engine doesnt have to use the same amount of power to turn the pulleys, hence, you have more power to turn the wheels)

the afx udp is dynoproven 8-12 whp gain, and that was on a neon, whose stock pulley is slightly smaller, so an eclipse will have greater hp gains..

eh we have serpentine belts meaninf flat not v shaped yes u are correct on the ribs but theya re serpentine ones not v shaped the v shaped belts are for neons accesories, i have my udp in my hand and talked to somone making these pullies for neons and 2gnt's for 80$ each,

u need to have a pulley with the 4 ribed and 5ribbed slots for belts with 2 serpentine belts

tell ur mechanic to eat ur ass with a spoon, i just got my UDP done not to long ago and it is BADASS!!!!! i love it so much, car feels so much more responsive, and on the highway, the RPM's just fuckin jump up so high and the car is literally so much qiucker off the line, i dont know if any of u remember me posting me loosing to my buddys 2000 auto Z24 wich is NA too but guess what after my UDP, High flow cat and motor mount install i just whip my shit out and slap it right on his hood and say suck it cause i totaly demolish him now in the 1/4, thing is i was always fatser on the street but not in the 1/4, now i am faster on both!
