I got the AFX pulley installed about two months ago. It came with some cheap ass belts that have started to squeek. But know I notice the uppermost pulley that is right beside the coolant resevoir is lose. It shakes when the car is running. I mean really shakes. It is starting to shake so hard it is knocking up against a bolt that is attached to something else causing this rattling sound. How can I tighten up that pulley or something?

just tighten them, they are gonna loosen up a little

i think your talking about the power steering pulley.

just tighten down the bolt in the middle of the pulley. you gotta put something in the holes on the pulley so it won't turn.

Well something went really wrong tonight. On the way back from the club my power steering stop working. My car is lowered with new tires so it was god awfully hard to turn. I had the AC mixed in with the heat so I could defrost the window and the Ac light started to blink, letting me know that ain't working either.

So I pop the hood, thinking that the belt just slid off or something. Well guess what?? The whole pulley and belt are gone, yes gone as in not there. I found the pulley wedged down beside the engine with the belt still on. The center of the pulley (axis that it spins on) has split in half causing the pulley to shoot off.

How in the world can solid steel split in half like that??? How much is this gonna cost.

Ok I think I may have figured this crap out. I am thinking that the pulley itself somehow came lose and started to wooble around. While woobling it banged up against some bolt that is near the pulley spokes (as seen in the photo--note the circular slashes and dents on the spokes). Well the bolt must have went into the spokes a little too far, kinda like throwing a steal bar into your rims while the car is moviing. The pulley must have stopped and the force from the belt caused it to snap.

Here is my problem:
-How much is this gonna cost to get fixed??
-Why did the pulley become lose in the first place??
-I din't know belts where that strong, I would have guess that the belt would just slip or wear out before breaking solid steal.
-Is there some type of billet (lighter in weight) pulley that I could buy and get some hp gains from this??

I've heard that OBX makes accessory under drive pullys for our cars.
If I recall, they weren't too pricey.

might be an option if you don't already have a crank udp.

I have a crank udp, so will these work with it?

you would probably be doubling up on the under driving and starve your accessories of rotation. also finding a belt would be a problem.

as far as I know though, no one has ever tried it.

That is what it say on OBX's site. So I can't use them. How makes a pulley the same size as the stock AC\PS and makes them lighter in weight?

I haven't heard of any place yet. looks like your stuck with a stocker.

try a junkyard or www.mitsubishigraveyard.com or ebay. you should be able to find everything pretty cheap.

I don't know why it broke, but I'm guessing that it just got loose, and bent it's self to shit. good luck with it. it doesn't look to be too terribly difficult to do though.

Oh! I hope that that bolt for the pulley is still loose (if it ever was). if not, it will be a BITCH to remove.

they arent that hard to break, me and a bud of mine broke one in half trying to get the nut or bolt or whatever off with a monkey wrench...he was holding it and it just broke :(
