Well, he is doing what I am thinking of doing, which is using the perfectly good Pacesetter piping, but taking an axe to the damned ugly-assed shit eating muffler, and welding a real muffler on.
I like the idea, and am looking for mufflers that would be good on a 2.5" pipe with a 2.4L and all kinds of bolt ons...

I've always liked what they USED to call turbo mufflers - the one like I have with the GS-T exhaust - flat oval mufller w/offset inlet-outlet.....I'm old. Now a days, the "turbo" mufflers are these big oversized cherry bombs - HUGE and straight through. The difference is in the sound. With a 'modern' turbo muffler(straight through) you get the same pitch and attack on accelleration and decelleration. mmmMMMMM-MMMMMmmmm. With an oval offset mufller you get the same pitch but different attack. mmmmmMMMMM-AGGGGGGhhhhh. I don't know how else to explain it. The straight throughs dont sound differnent between accell/decel, whereas the oval offset mufflers do sound different.

Bill - I'd get at leaset 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back with that 2.4L.

if you could get a muffler shop to bend the piping, id get a n1 muffler, but not unless they could angle it liek the real ones so it doesnt LOOK like a rip off

i suggest magnaflow. i just have a magnaflow muffler, and mechanics give good complements about how its sounds nice and it has great performance.

like he said, if you can get the bend, go with the N1 muffler, if not, id just go with an apex dunk, or a super dragger muffler, not sure what the prices are tho, apex isnt that bad with prices. if ur on a budget, id get a magnaflow, those usually sound pretty decent.

Will the Nokya N1 muffler fit on the 2.5" pacesetter piping?

Or are you talking about the Apexi N1 muffler?

you have to remember this ( i run a pacesetter, so im speaking from experience) that the pacesetter muffler and pipes are set up for an offset muffler....
now after knowing that, if you put any type of striaght thru muffler, or non-offset muffler, it will have to be angled.

i run a 5zigen fireball straight-thru muffler on my pacesetter pipes(it is angled), but right after the install, i took her for a spin, and she sounded like a honduh, very raspy.... so i went to the auto store, and spent 25 bux on a better resonator, had it welded into the piping (where the pacesetter resonator was), and she sounds like a champ now ;-)

basically do what you want... remember tho w/the gst muff, the inlet to it is only 2.25, and your pipes are 2.5, so you will be "restricting" the exhaust flow slightly if you go that route..
