WHats up guys? Can anyone tell me were i can get some info on putting the 2.4 liter bottom end into a 96 esi talon (turbocharged)? thanks for the help. The car's 2.0 spun a bearing and destroyed the crank and one rod. The pistons are sticking and the only thing thats really good is the block... I think the 2.4 liter would be a good upgrade thanks in advance

well, look into "things seen before". A few of us are working on it (I'm short on funds now) but many are very close to being done. It has been done before, but that member has been MIA. If you want to swap the Neon SRT motor, you cannot use the head, intake, or anything really other than the short block. You can use our head and SRT piston/rods and just have the pistons reversed on the rod to accomodate the valve clearance. Aftermarket is getting pretty readily available, and you can use the turbo kits offered for the 420A 2.0. You will have to fabricate brakets for PS and A/C and alter the crossmember to fit the 2.4 oil pan. It is alot of work and will not swap without knowledge of what's going on.

Actually, we cannot use the SRT block. Specifically, we cannot use the SRT crank. The crank position sensor is different and will not be read properly by our ECU. Not even I am nuts enough to try it. :D -=B-=

You know, I knew that. I guess I was under the assumption everyone doing this swap was broke as hell like myself and would just go pull a Cloud 2.4. Yeah, Bill you are exactly correct. Really off topic, but has anybody else read an old article on "wasted spark" on the fastest SOHC Neon? That dude was planning on using motorcycle ignition and using some custom crank trigger. I'll have to look for the article again, I think it was in Mopar Now.

If you want a custom crank trigger look into a timing wheel you bolt onto a UDP. Same way Electromotive does their timign control.
