38658, I need help.........Coolant Problem. Posted by BigBald, Dec-03-02 12:10 AM
There is a hose with two clamps on it above my header that is leaking fluid onto the header. Want i want to know is do i need to replace that hose or is/was there a sealant at the end. If it is a hose i am assuming to just get another one that size and replace it. This is new to me so any advice is appreciated.

Yep I would replace it. it's a cheap part. Ask anyone for an upper radiator hose for your year make and model and you can change it. I would inspect it for cracks and holes first though, it may just be loose or something... if not then change it. ohh you have a 95...just change it if you can. Use a syphon pump to get the coolant out of the hose before you change it and when you get it off put a rag in the rad opening to catch the extra coolant.

I just replaced my upper radiator hose in a 95' RS. First drain the radiator by disconnecting the bottom hose ( you can reach it from under the front bumper). Then take of the top hose, put on the new one, and MAKE SURE YOU USE NEW HOSE CLAMPS. Use the kind that you tighten with a screw driver. Tighten those down, make sure your bottom hose is back on, and refill the fluid,

your cooling system will hold 7.4 qts. i use the premixed coolant so i make sure its 50/50. and are you taking about the hose coming off the right hand side of the thermastat housing? that connects to the black metal pipe that goes to the heater core, it runs right in front of the head and right above the exhaust manifold. well i guess it doesn't matter, thats just the hose i thought you were describing
