38337, nother cam gear question Posted by joshacu, Nov-27-02 07:42 AM
just wondering what you guys did about the timing belt cover. since you cant get to them with it on, did yall leave it off, which i know isnt sugested, or did you do someting else like cutting off the top part just where the gears are. this seem lke the best solution. right now the shop that screwed it up the first time has the cover on it wit the timing "window" left off, and to adjust it they are turning the intire engine to get to the bolts in the gears. so this wont work for me. just wondering. -Josh

Do a 2.4 swap. It's easy to just remove the top part of the timing cover. It is seperate, unlike the 2.0 cover, where there it isn't so easy. This can be removed with the motor mount bracket in place. -=B-=

Transmission is bolted to the motor, just need to get the whole assembly up to the driver side motor mount, get a belt on the alternator, put the top portion on the intake manifold, and get a couple more of the mounts on. Then, I can fire it up. The neighbors will hate me, as it will be open header (can you say LOUD?), but it will start soon. I am awaiting some custom accessory brackets and a passenger side motor mount, as well as an insane oil pan. Things are looking up... -=B-= :thumbsup
