38114, what camshafts to get? Posted by steve0677, Nov-25-02 05:47 AM
I'm about to buy some cams for my car. What would be the best ones to get while still being able to pass emissions. The crane 10 cams are the for for the street, will I net any power with these? My friend tells me to get the 12's, but it says that they are for nitrous on howell's site. Anybody with a little insight on this? thanks

im not sure how strict your emissions are but u should beable to swing 16's or so id think if not just swap back to stock and run through again i guess im not worried about emissions on my car so i nevver thought of it..

I can not be sure what will happen for emissions, but for performance I'm still trying to figure out what the best cams are for a not so crazy all motor setup.
Actually, this sounds a bit crazy, and I have not been able to confirm it at all, but it might be a good idea to get the crance #12 intake cam only, and leave the stock exhaust cam alone. I have no idea if this will be the best setup, but it is something to consider.

Thanks for the help guys, I did some research of my own in sports compact car mag and found a dyno before and after for a neon with crane drage cams. It netted 9 extra hp, not kinda what I was lookin for(hoped for 15) while making it very risky to pass emissions. My afx ecu gives my car plenty of power so I decided on getting my car some much needed springs and struts.

If you want 15 go for a drag grind. I got about 20 or so from mine. Eff emmissions, just tune it real lean for the test.

I love my Crower Stage 2 Cams. They seem to be a nice set up for a streeet/strip application. Once I fix my head gasket and get the exhaust taken care off it should be real nice.
