aside from taking out the spare tire, jack, etc and all the junk in ones car and the great carbonfiber hood.. what are some ways to lighten our slightly chubby cars that you all have done? i dont want to get like replacement windows and such but just a few things that will lighten my car up.. thanks a lot in advance

though.. you might want the nonturbo version... :D

you can remove all the insulation under the seats and carpets, toss the back seat, those are kinda basic tho

I think the best weight reduction for my car would be to let someone else drive it or lose 80 lbs or so...

those are what we have we are currently deisgned an air bag cover and sunroof replacment the owner of squidskins, my manufacturer shaved 800lbs off his tsi with teh above mods...

everyorder form ehre gets a 5-15% discount depending on quanity of order all parts come in fiberglass and carbon fiber

if you take out the rear seats, the pass seat, and those 3 seat belts, im sure you could shave another ~120lbs or so...

take out all your speakers...~25-1xxlbs dependin on your sounds....

take off your wing... get lighter rims....

take out the a/c p/s systems...
yank both washer resevoirs, the antennae, and motor, all wipers...

etc... u can get creative

im thinkin about designin a "track/race" only hatch that hopefully wont weigh more than 15 lbs after its all said n done... im sure the stock hatch w/the turbo spawla weighs a good 1-200lbs....

cut off the roof, and leave the wheels off

yea to support my 2.4 litre swap and turbo prodject and i split the money with my who has a back injurgy from work and has been off for a lone time almost 4 years... but im starting up the car stuff so hopefully i can help u guys out with new products and get me some more income =)

You could also try ditching the heater core... Kinda involed though, and i've heard it's like 40 LBS. Sucks though if you live in a cold climate, but if you were building a track car or a summer only car it might be more tolerable of an idea....

you could take out your air conditioning and stuff..i heard that takes off like 20 or so pounds.. also inside the bumpers there is some heavy duty foam that weighs a little bit..you could take those off but if you got in an accident..your car might be really messed up.. most people take out back seats..spare tire.. replace the front seats with some lightweight racing seats..get like 15 or 16" lightweight rims.. later

Actually Ive been thinking lately and it seems that light weight body panels are a good mod to start with! If that guy lost what 800lbs thats a good .8seconds off in the 1/4mi plus the handling is improved so its a double mod. So instead of buying intakes and cams we should be buying CF fenders and hatches with lexan to lighten our bitch heavy cars. Just a thought :)

So you are gonna take out all the seats, padding, A/C, speakers, carpet, trimmings, ect..... So you can go 0.8 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile.

So what about the rest of the time when your cruzing to Taco Bell to get a 10 pack of Taco's with no A/C, Padding on your seats, Stereo, ect...

actually he had his full interior just racing seats, he replaced his bumpers fender, door skins, hood, hatch and some misc brackets, car looks just as good or better and weights 800lbs less hmm can we say schweeet?
