Took my car in for an oil change a little while ago. They told me I was leaking oil, and at the time I was - little bits but was leakin. Came back after they put the dye in the oil and oil was on the bottom of my car. Nonetheless they made 2 conclussions 1) Headgasket or 2) Rear Engine Seal

Is there really any way to tell or do I have to take it to Satan and they gotta rip the engine apart to verify its gonna cost me a ton to get it fixed?

The oil is coming from the back of the engine - I think on passenegers side. Other then that - there is just oil everywhere!

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Are our cars prone to have rear engine seals going or maybe headgaskets going?? I only got 90,000 KM's on the car.....but then again - seems like the seals start to go around now.

our 420a has a good chance of blowin the headgasket... mines did..

i dunno what 90km equates to, but if your under 60k go bitch at satan..
i would put money on your headgasket bein blown.... there is a writeup on it sumwhere on the board, check the main page, or www.vfaq.com for it...

Yeah get this -> 100km/h is 60mi/h -> So 90,000 KM isn't 60,000 Miles!! Unless it works different?

Damnit.....gonna take it in next week - how bad (if its the head gasket) to just keep putting oil in it and not fix it?

Also, how much would Satan charge for a timing belt/ headgasket job? Might as well get em done at the sametime.

mine had a couple of bolts back out of the oil pan. one night i noticed smoke rising from the hood, when i checked it out my flex pipe was saturated. new gasket and bolts problem solved.

Head gasket mine did. just like sean said the have a habbit of doing that. I heard to fit it that you have to put 3 gaskets on. That's just what a few mits. techs have told me

Yeah my car is leaking ALOT of oil already did the head gasket with no luck. I am going to do the oil pan gasket and wrap the oil press sender with some tape to see if that stops it, if not I am out of ideas :(

don't use tape! Use teflon paste or liquid gasket.

yeah I am going to use teflon tape it would be funny to try and use duck tape though hehe.

I say again... Do NOT use teflon tape. Use teflon paste or liquid gasket. teflon tape has been known to rip and send little pieces of tape through the oil galley and plug up some of the smaller holes, resulting in spun bearings. Teflon paste stays in liquid form and will not do this. Also, always apply the paste to male threads only.

ohh ok I read your first post wrong thanks probably just saved my ass :) I will be using the paste when I finaly get around to doing it. hmm maybe if I ever get a winter beater I will have to play with duct tape and make a video hehe.

Back to the topic :) 97_esi did the tell you what the cause of the oil leak was?

I take it in next week to Chrysler to figure out *for sure* what it is. I'll let you guys know then... but it don't look good :(

everytime that I pull my plugs to clean or replace them oil leaks down into the cylinders and I have started it back up and I rev it several times about 6000 rpm to clear it out,can't figure out what it is,thinkin it might be a valve cover gasket,I was told that they're bad about doing that too... peace out

hah... satan said my head gasket was bad, but found out it was the oil pan gasket check that man oil can be flung up from the axle it all depends

My original head gasket had a huge hole in it :), that was at 109k

when i found mine the flex pipe had to be replaced it got so saturated. but it could have been worse.
