37670, Ok, this is THE last fake bov question..... Posted by mrlocalpimp, Nov-20-02 03:09 PM
Ok. ASSUMING, because obviously I wouldnt have gone THIS far, but assuming I miiiiiigggggghhhtt have hooked up a compressor to my AC/PS belt..... And assummminnngggg (as Micheal Savage would saaaaay) it were blowing air when the car is on the and the belt turning.... Then all I need is a valve on the end to close the outlet so the air compreeeesssessss. Then I could hit a button and electrically open this valve to let the compreeessed air ooouuuttt.
What exactly would this valve be called? That can be electrically opened? I asked solenoid to checkers they kept giving me these stupid little things with no inlet outlet for air, just metal posts. Anyone have suugggeeeessstions?
I want to design this to show people what not to do, because its just not a cool thing to do. I must educate people. So... Any suggestiooonnss?

dude, honestly I am tired of seeing you get flamed and all. I don't wanna be an ass, but spend time and money on something that ads visual effect to the car or makes it faster. This is going to be a lot of time and work, and no guarantees, and chances are when you're out, you'll get laughed at, etc. Do the free mods or something with all that extra time. I would honestly wait and start sticking back for a turbo kit. You can have the real deal with the power behind it instead of something that doesn't do anything. I know a lot of us here do things to our cars that don't make them faster, but it's a noticeable difference in the looks of the car or something. IMO, spend your time on something that will have a real effect on the car.

for F's sake.. not one of those replies actually pertained to your question in a constructive way. people on this board are getting so effin uppity. ever heard of DSMTALK? I thought so.
anyway, you'd probably want to use a pretty strong silinoid (I think i spelt that wrong)

I >thought so. > >anyway, you'd probably want to use a pretty strong silinoid >(I think i spelt that wrong) actually, it gets old when people obviously pick on this, and he puts about 10 posts up about it, when he could have used 1 or 2. I think everyone's tired of seeing fake BOV. Some tired of seeing it, hearing about it. Others tired of seeing the drama caused by it. imo all the fake bov threads should be locked the fuck up and never to be seen again by anyone. There's nothing wrong with this board just b/c we don't like fake bov's. Then again, we should let it go and stop ragging him. In the same aspect, he knows the majority doesn't like this, replies are the same for each of the 50,000 posts he's made about it. GET REAL. It's beginning to look like more of an attention craving gimmick.

I am really sick of seeing these fake BOV posts. It would be alot cheaper and easier to just get the Tsunami BOV noise generator and be done with it. But, if you really want to use air...
Mount a small air compressor in your car
Mount a small air tank in your car
Hook up the compressor to fill up the air tank and keep it at a cerain pressure (so it will refill when you blow the air out)
Buy a solenoid operated air valve from mcmastercarr or grainger (a solenoid is really just an electro-magnetic actuator for switching air, water, or electricity).
Hook up the solenoid valve to release pressure from the air tank when you hit an electrical switch in the cockpit.
In order to get a good sound from the valve, you need a significant amount of air to pass through it. That is why you need to store air in a tank (the compressor probably can't supply enough flow).
If you want some more help, contact me by e-mail and I will help all I can. I am just sick of seeing post after post here. I don't like to see you get flamed either.
