Posted by 99GSBBTurbo, Jun-19-01 07:53 AM
My frined has a 96' GS and he just blew his motor...He needs a new one...cause it's non repairable. Could someone PLEASE help him!!!! He wants the Jap spec Lancer motor so he doesn't have to change the motor mounts for the GS-T motor or the drive shaft. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

Where did your friend get his roof scoop from? I don't like the color, wheels, or front bumper. I know the wing his the hottest trend now, but I hate that the most.

Your car is smokin, cause it's clean.

Thanks...wow, I didn't think my car looked better, cause he has a body kit, paint job, and his attracts more attention. Thanks a lot!!!!!!! I'll ask him as soon as I get the chance.

Back to the topic ... Isn't the Lancer engine a 4g63 variant? So how's he gonna swap that in w/o chaging motor mounts, ecu, etc, etc.? I don't think that you can do that without a ton of work.

So how much work would this be? Would it just be like swapping a gs-t into a non-turbo?

Actually, the Lancer Evo engine sits in the same motor mounts as our car. Look at this site... http://lancerevolutiongsr.homestead.com/EvoVII.html You could clearly see that it sits in the same spot:-) That's why he want's the Evo and not the Cyclone. oh ya, and probably cause it also puts out 280hp stock.

sorry, but i like his better :) (could it be i'm biased?)
for the price he will end up paying for the evo swap, he could prolly get a 420A into 500HP territory. just food for thought.
another thing is it might be hard to find parts in the event that s/thing fails :(
how'd he blow it ?

His motor was REALLY old with many miles...and he was told that the Evo motor will only cost 1,100!!! And it bolts on to the stock trany, and motor mounts!!!! A little more then a 420A but it will have mad horeses!!! I will find out more in a couple days...I'll keep you all informed.

I was told he could use the same mounts and the trany...but it doesn't sound right to me either. My friend is suppose to find out more info on it next week. I'll let you know.
