I just bought a 95 mitsubishi eclipse rs for $4,500.00 . It has 122,000 miles the throwbearing are making all this racket and annoying, but thats not the problem. I just need your opinion Im going to purchase the top end performance kit and the bottom end kit from howell automotive then Im gonna take it to heritage mitsubishi in el paso tx so they could install it cause I live in the middle of nowhere (Marfa,Tx) and I dont know a damn thing about engines but learning. I need to find a good clutch and the guy at mitsubishi told me to get some crap for the transmission so they could rebuild it also im just not sure what to get?! After all this crap is done im gonna get stage 2 turbo from hahn racecraft. The guys at heritage mitsubishi are charging me $3,000 to put on the top and bottom end kit and transmission rebuild.

well i dont know much about engines but to install pistons and rods for 3,000 is pretty steep. If you could find an import shop in el paso i'm sure they would install it for cheaper, but you need to pick a reliable place too. From what i've heard it only takes basic knowledge to install a turbo kit on an eclipse, and the guys on this board have a good write up im sure.

for removable and reintallation and installion of a turbo kit i guess 3k is ok, should be able to get it cheaper....

Actually, that is a pretty fair price for removal of a motor, removal of the accessories, pulling the head, installing valvesprings, rockers, lifters, cams, removing the stock pistons and rods, installing the new rods (with machine work to the motor included), and rebuilding the transmission. That is a lot of labor and 3K seems to be fairly decent. My advice, of course, is learn how to do it yourself by doing it with someone who knows more, but that's just me.

that seems a bit much but i'd hold off on the cams. boosting a motor recquires cams for forced induction. forced induction cams don't work so great on an NA motor. i'd do one at a time. or if you have cash to burn you could always tear it all down again and replace everything from your head gasket up twice.
