okay my car has been shredding belt like crazy. i took off all the belts and checked all the pulley to see if they were loose or bent. well the crank pulley was loose. i had torqued it to specs, so it shouldn't have come loose, right? well i took the bolt out and it had alot of metal shavings on it but the treads on the bolt are fine. i am assuming that the treads on the crank are stripped.
can i drill the treads out and rethread it? is there and easier way? please give me some input on this.

wow, youre the only other person ive heard of that had the same problem, but i had a different scenerio. at some point in my cars past a shop had replaced the crank pully bolt with a slightly smaller and longer bolt, and although the difference was VERY minimal over time it got loose and i had the same problem, so im assuming that the bolt hole had been damaged slightly since the bolt was loose. i took it to satan and they fixed it for me, only took a few hours, i think labor was about 150. im not sure if they just put in the OEM size bolt, or if they re-threaded the hole though.
