Hey im about to rebuild my other 99 eclipse and did the howell kit with over bore, but wanna know if i can just get the standard Bore JE from racengineering with lowered compression and experience no piston slap?

the only problem lies in the fact that when u do your bottom end again, usually (always) you need to have the cylinders redone which makes them larger, thus u need oversized pistons.....Id say u will get piston slap if u use standard sized pistons on a rebuilt motor.

If you're cylinder walls are okay then just hone them yourself and use standard sized pistons. If you already have oversized pistons then I would go ahead and bore the cylinders... it can't hurt... and it might help! :)

Plus the slapping has nothing to do with over bore. It's a side effect from using the forged pistons. It's all about the expanding and contracting of the metal due to heat or cold.

I'm using forged standard size pistons and I don't have any problems with them. *knock on wood*
