How hard would it be to install and uninstall the stock upper portion of the intake manifold? Im going to get it bored to 60mm for the billet TB.

Is there any differance between the 1995-1999 upper intake manifolds?

easy, just a little time consuming and tedious. take off the air filter and tube that connects to the thottle body. disconect the throttle cable and remove the TB (i think theres two bolts), but be carefull with the gasket thats behind it, its brittle (might want to pick up a new one beforehand just in case). remove the wire harnesses and vac lines from the manifold. i think theres 2-3 bolts behind the fuel rail that attaches the upper manifold to the lower, and then 2-3 more that are upside down on the firewall side. its been a while since ive done this so i might be off on the numbers. thats pretty much it though. its also a good time to clean the TB and the manifold, as it might be a little nasty. you could also do the EGR blockoff if you want it to stay clean.

Its not too hard just time consuming like he^^ said. I did it yesterday. Just remember to get the gaskets when you put it back together. the hardest part for me was the bolts that actually bolt down to the lower plenum because they face down ward.

i have been thinking about drill out the threads on the upper manifold and threading the lower so that i can put the bolts in from the top. think that would cause any problems?

If it comes out right there shouldnt be any problems i dont think. i thought of that to. But, honestly all the trouble you would go through for that....how many times do you take off the mani? I would just indure the PITA that it is for the few times you'll take it off.

actually i'm a dumbass, you couldn't do that for all the bolts only 3 cause the front ones have to be going from the bottom.

no. it could be ported while on the car but you would get all the metal shavings in you engine. and that wouldn't be cool.

LOL, agreed, that would be a big mess. seriously, its pretty easy to take it off, and if you have any questions while youre doing it just ask. if you dont want the downtime, theres someone in the "for sale" forum selling a manifold for like 80 bucks. use that one to machine, then sell the one you have on now on ebay to recoup some of the costs.
