36710, motor mount insert question
Posted by RxR_Eclipse, Nov-09-02 08:11 AM
Ok so I got my motor mount inserts from Sear (thanks!). Went to install the front one and it just seems that there is no way to get the metal washer in there, or is the metal washer for the rear motor mount? Is that right?

The washers go on either side of the front motor mount. Try spreading the front bracket w/ plyers or something to get it in there and when you tighten the bolt back up it will bend back into place.

what about the rear ones? They are the ones the washer are sitting with in the package.

Is there only one washer? Mine had 2 for the front and none for the rear. Mine were energy suspension. I don't know if you got the same ones or not.

well I have to say that is like the easiest install ever...I got the washers on either side...but they don't fit "down" into the motor mount. They do slip down on the pin but that is it..I am guessing that the rear ones don't get washers?
Yup energy supsension.

they they just slide down their when u feel like youve used your energys up< check into protane bushings for the mounts much harder then the energy ones for less wheel hop but more money[br />

They just go on the outside. Once you get the bolt through the middle it will hold it all in place. So the washers are flush w/ the mount, not inside.

Took it for a quick test drive, and can definitally feel the difference. On startup and shut down especially. I got next to no wheel hop before (thanks to Tokico Illlums and sprint sport's). Now I hope it eliminates it totally. Too bad its been raining for a couple of days now. I would like to try it out on some dry roads.
thanks guys!

Why does it always rain when you finish a mod. I SWEAR TO GOD, the last 3 mods I've done had to be tested first time with wet roads. x(

it's not necasarly a bad thing to test motor mounts in the rain.. much easier to slip the tires and I have never noticed that I get more wheel hop when it's wet or dry.

btw, I just installed front and rear ES motor mount inserts on my zx2 (last night) front was easy.. rear was an assinine pain. but it's all in and done. a little more resonance in the cab, and only more vibration at certain RPM's. shifting and launching feel much more 'sure'. No wheel hop as of my 2 minute test drive.. hehe. it'll be even better when I get the crappy stock bushings in the shifter linkage replaced.

hey Kevin, where did you get the 5th bar (Neuspeed) and how much was is? Can you tell and difference with just that bar? I see you have brackets for the strut bar. Looks clean and gives access to the top of the engine. Thanks.

I actually called a guy over at neuspeed and got one of the last two that they had in stock at the time. I think I paid like $99 + shipping. Came with all the hardware to relocate the windshied washer tank.
It does not actually attach to the "strut" like my other brace does. It goes on the large copper nut just behind the strut. I am a firm believer that it is much better than the other brace I have. Why do I beleive in it? Cause I tried it out! I have taken the neuspeed one off and just used the other brace, and vice versa...the result is the neuspeed one has a far superior effect. I really could not tell you who to contact to get one? That is if they even still make them.
O yea I have the other bar in place now It just looks cool :)

For the Neuspeed bar go look in the announcements section under the asog neuspeed bar group buy. They have had several of these. I got in on the last one and I love mine. But yeah go check it out.
