36381, GSX brakes are much better!!! Posted by JustOne, Nov-05-02 03:07 PM
Well I finally got around to swapping in some GSX dual pistons w/ R-speed rotors and Metal Masters pads. All I can say is for the price of doing this conversion over the price of a full brake upgrade like AEM it is well worth it. No more heat socked brakes after multiple 100+mph pulls.
As far as the install goes it didn't take more than an hour to do both sides, it was very simple and straight forward. The GSX rotors are like 1/4" larger and the pads are way bigger. One thing I did notice about the 2gnt caliper is that it has a HUGE single piston. I guess I never really paid attention to its size until I put it up to the GSX calipers.
Well anyway, if you are looking into a brake upgrade and don’t want to spend a ton of cash definitely do this upgrade.
Finally its autocross time!

Junk yard
>>and how much were they?
$45 a pop
>>what about the rotors? how much were they????
$35 a pop
>>this is the front right??? or is this rear?
Yep front rotors
>>what brakes would you upgrade to for the rear RS drum brakes?
Well I'm lucky and I have a GS so I have disc brakes in the back as well. As far as upgrading them I would just do a slotted or drilled rotor w/ Metal Masters pads.

you guyz sound like this hasn't been done b4 :P Just to let you know I faded my DPCs at the track on Saturday bwaahah, there's a giant fade mark on the rotor but they still bite, the pedal is all mushy now though so I think I majorly boiled the brake fluid. Haha time to get some race pads the mitsu ones aren't bad I'll say that but I think I just exceeded the limits of my brakes once again :P Left foot braking is an awesome techinique but it sure is hard on your brakes :) But what eclipse have you seen do chokidori? bwahaha

if you guys are looking for just regular GSX rotors, go to a local parts store like NAPA, or Autozone, something like that. I ordered stock 2gnt rotors for myself recently and they were only 24 bucks a piece. I asked about the GSX rotors and he said they were 42 bones.

Well I should be getting a set of Baer Track Brakes either this weekend or next week for 200 bucks and my stock front brakes. I think im going to do the rear disk conversion as well to help balance everything out.
