who makes the best clutches for us? i'd like a heavier clutch so i can stay in power longer. know what i mean?

if someone could give me a clutch primer that would help tremendously. i'm not very up on clutches.

u ahve the option of a 800$ ceramic clutch from clutchmasters , stock replacement u can use a pt cruisar stock clutch their pretty nice and the cheaper better option would be go non-modular witha neon style (95) fly wheel and 95 neon clutch disk and pressure plate half the cost and u get a bigger clutch disk...

I have 96 RS, i beleive it have modular clutch.

Can i just swap to PT Cruiser or Neon non-modular clutch? and what year?

for some reason my friends 98 GS came with a non-modular clutch. its came brand new from the factory like that so ya mite wanna make sure that yours didn't.

Im never change my clutch yet since i buy this car, so im not sure which setup my clutch is.
and i read some discussion about this before, but it never clear which setup for year 96 rs/gs car.
But i assumed that, i have Modular clutch, is this possible swap to non-modular clutch?

Well it varies from car to car whether or not you have a modular clutch. I have a 95 and I had a modular clutch. I changed it to a non-modular clutch by buying a fidanza aluminum flywheel from howell along with a SPEC stage 3 clutch. If I were to do it all over again though, I would just buy a 1995-1999 stock neon flywheel, have it resurfaced, and then just buy a nice pressure plate and a ceramic clutch disk. The only reason I say that is because its a lot cheaper to do it that way haha.

stock pt cruisar clutches a pretty beefy for a a stock clutch stronger then ours id say and only like 260$ but they are modular

Im sure if neon clutch will be cheaper, but it is stronger or weaker than our stock clutch, and about PT-Cruiser im sure it stronger than ours. $260 is including the flywheel or not?

Matt, what about Fidanza flywheel, it give you very nice gain? it help your 1/4 time?

It's hard to say because I had numerous things done to my car at the same time that I installed the flywheel. But... I droped the compression to 8.6:1, I had a 5 angle valve job done on the head, had it ported/polished, and installed the fidanza at the same time. The car is now definately quicker at 7-8 psi than it used to be at 7-8 psi. I am sure the flywheel had something to do with it. One thing that I noticed right away about it is that the engine will rev and de-rev a lot quicker.

pt cruisar is modular

the aluminum fly wheel will note a ncie gain especxially in revs and 60's i would assume maybe .1-.3 in the 1/4
