I looked for a fuel pressure gauge in summit.. it says it must be mounted outside of the vehicle.. is that right? hmm well besides that.. i know ya need steel braided line for it.. for those who do have this, how many feet of steel braided line is needed? thanks guys..

yep you want it mounted outside the car for the mechanical guages or you can spend more and get an electrical one that has a sending unit that will send an electrical signal instead of running fuel hose into the car and then the guage takes the electrical signal and turns it into fuel pressure readings

If you do the mechanical the length of fuel tubing depends on where your mounting that sucker.

yeah because that would require running the fuel line inside your car via firewall or whatever. and you are never supposed to run any fuel lines inside the car. you can mount the gauge under your hood near the fuel rail where you tap for the gauge, or you can run a little longer fuel line and somehow mount it up against the lower part of your windshield on the outside. so you can read the fuel pressure while driving/racing and not when your just under the hood. i would do this but then some stupid punk would come steal my carbon fiber gauge off of my car. like the guy above said, the only way to get a gauge mounted inside your car for fuel pressure, you need to get a 100% electrical gauge. more expensive i believe.

Try and find an Autometer 4309 90* sweep 0-100psi electric fuel pressure gauge on ebay. they're under a recall, so when you get it, send it back to Autometer and they'll send you a nice $180 full sweep replacement gauge an greddy-style sender.

I actually have 2 electrics. I'll sell a brand new $180 for $115.

actualy you can run a mechanical inside your car. autometer sells a fuel pressure isolator unit that uses anitifreeze on the in-car line to register the pressure and keeps the fuel in the engine compartment line. its cheaper than an electrical one to. you need the 100psi one, not the 15psi one.

hey dont forget go easy on the test port it will snap off easy if you overtighten it when putting an electric guage on it. late mike

How exactly did you tap the test port to attach the sending unit?
I tried to do this but didn't have the right fittings... The sending unit is metric, and the test port is standard (or vis versa). Please if you have someone who made you the fitting or know of a part number i can get, i would rather do that!!! Being that the test port is right on the fuel rail at the end, you can't get much better of a reading of fuel pressure anywhere else.
I have the Autometer he Dino was talking about that got recalled and i never sent it back in for the recall. Maybe i should do that this weekend hehe... I got the letters in the mail, 1 from summit warning me that the one from autometer was comming. :+
oh well but still let me know what fitting you used to use the test port as your point of access for the sending unit! thanks.
