I talked to Carbodium Fibre (the guy making the t/b's), about making a billet p/s pulley. He said if there is enough interest it could be possible. The stock pulley weighs in at 1 Lb 10oz. A billet pulley should weigh in much less. A rule of thumb for recipicating weight is, for every 1 pound less recipicating weight is equal to 4 hp. So even if it only shaved off 1 Lb thats still 4hp.(should weigh only oz's). I know it's not a whole hell of alot but every bit counts towards the final #. Also, It's awsome that there is another willing to go out of his way for the 420a. I really dont see these opportunities being around forever, as every company that makes them turns their back on the 420a. I already know that price will be a big concern, but we wont know that until he sees how many peeps would buy one, If there is alot of interest mabye he will give us a killer deal. :+

I might be interested in this but that depends on the price. I know of another brand of pulleys I was thinking about but if this is anywhere close to it I'd have to say yes.

IMO, you wont see 4 hp per pound shed of weight. If that was the case, our UDP's would give us like 20 hp. Now if the ps pulley was an underdrive pulley,eg. a larger, lighter than stock pulley, or the same weight in billet, to make the ps turn less, that would be better. The ps pulley isnt that heavy, cant weight more than a pound or two...It would be better off to make it an underdrive pulley instead of weight alone. I'd be down if that was the case.. But if this "new" underdrive p/s pulley was combined with a crank UDP, steering my get a bit difficult at a stop or just rolling speeds..dont really know until its tried i suppose.. I just dont see any real performance power potential for the ps pulley..if it gives a few HP, thats good i guess, as long as its not expensive..

Well, like I said, it's a rule of thumb, which by no means am I saying its a fact. As far as an underdrive ps pulley goes, like you said, most likely would'nt be good for steering. Thats why I asked him to make it in stock diminsions. Personally, I will take any reliable hp I can get, even if it's only a little. :-)

I am a michinist and really it would eb easy to knock these out but if theres not interest in them and most compainies charge 100 an hour for pullys. But u figure they have a 145,000 machine and 35,000 for the programs. 200 for the tb is not bad at all. But if there is not going to be big power gains no one will want them. Tb= power billet pullys= less rotating mass= small power gains. In other words people want the most bang for there buck

Well people will pay $450 and $500 for exhaust or headers and gain only 2 or 3 hp off them which could easily be looked at as a waste. So why try to discourage people from from payin mabye $75 or $100 (guessing) for the same kinda power gains? This may be right up someones alley. People need to realize that not everyone wants to go turbo (which would be the best bang for the buck) some may want to extract as much hp from a NA motor as they can. If it is nothing you're interested in then why post? Not everyone wants to hear negitave comments from every post on this forum.

from what i have gathered. the p/s and alternator pulleys from a 01 civic ex will work on our cars. that's what i have been told. and that's only if the alternator pulley is has 4 slots and the p/s has 5 slots plus the shafts for the bolts have to be the same also. but this guy swears up and down that it will work.

I wasn't saying it wouldn't work but the aem pullys for the ps and alt are 175.00.

Aluminum has about 1/3 the density of steel so if the current PS pulley way 26 oz then an aluminum pulley of the exact same design would way in at about 8oz.

If its stock size, I am in.

i drove around all weekend without my power steering belt. i didn't notice any kind of difference with or without it. but it should give me more hp than a new PS pulley, right? so i say the pulley wouldn't be worth the money.

dood, my power steering belt was off for a while, notice a NICE gain from it, pulled alot harder, what I'd like neon speed labs to come out with is some billet machined exhaust manifold heat shields or some valve covers, that would be tighter than hell

I might be interested, have to see a price, etc. If nothign else it would dress up the engine bay.
