Under the car on the back of the block there are two sensors. As you face the back of the block there is one on the left with a single yellow wire coming out of the harness. There is also one on the right that has one white and one green wire coming out of the harness. Which one do I tee off of for my autometer oil pressure sending unit.

For those that have used the autometer electric oil pressure unit, do you have any problems with the sending unit being to big or bulky while they hang off the back of the block? Does it stay in place or does it come loose? The tee fitting, factory unit and autometer unit all hooked together is quite bulky.

Damn! I used to have a pic when I instaaled mine but I think I deleted it awhile back. I'm not sure about the wire colours but on mine I remember the harness to the OE unit had somw bright green colour on it, and a red tab that locks it in place. Look for the green. The Autometer sender is pretty bulky but it will fit. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I don't know howmuch this helps but I don't think you can get the green confused. The install can be a PITA, Good luck!

Well i had a problem when i installed my turbo kit. The oil one is:
If you are under your car looking up at the engine, and your legs are hanging out of the front of your car, it is the one on your left hand side. The one towards the center of the block, if you pull it out is has anti-freeze come out of it. Oh go spend the couple of bucks on the oil presure sending unit removal socket (don't think that is the real name of it but close enough) for cryslers. It is well worth it.

Your question reguarding the bulkiness of the sending unit.... yes it tends to be too bulky if you have that sucker going right off of the back. What we had to do for a friend of mine is: find a hardware store that will custom make fittings, and we had him make us an "L" shaped one that we were able to use. Cost us like 6 bucks, but what was our other option?

If this takes a while, i will try and get a pic of what the "End-Product" looked like for us.

yeah, the oil sending unit thingy is near the left side of the block if your legs are coming out of the front of the car and you're under it. it's such a pain to get off, i was cheap and used vicegrips and broke the little plastic clip in the process. i hear that it is possible to use any old 26mm (deep?) socket tool to get it out, but i've never tried it. good luck with your installation. i'm done now.

1 1/16th inch deep well or oil sender socket. It's on the left side but may not be a green plug on 95-96 but it is on 97-99 for sure.

Also, don't destroy the little plastic clip... its kinda weird, only used in 2 places on the car that I know of. You'll struggle with the wire for hours until it either breaks or you realize there's more to it than pulling up a tab and unplugging the sensor.

There's this stupid little red tab that you have to slide out of the way, then you can unclip and then unplug the sensor cable. Kind of a 3-step process, feel around and you'll find the red tab, it's rougher than the rest of the plug.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I will finish this project this weekend. I am installing an A/F guage and the oil pressure gauge in the autometer instrument cluster bezel. It should look real nice when I am done.
