35418, air intake question

I put an injen air intake with a k&n filter into my car about a week and a half ago. I honestly did not notice any power gains or fuel economy gains. All of a sudden, like yesterday, i notice that i seem to have much more power especially above 3500 rpm's, and my gas mileage for this tank has been better. does an intake have a "break in" period at all or am I just crazy/dumb?

Form what I have heard, it takes the ecu some time to adjust to all the new air coming in. I am guessing that you didn't take off the negitive cable running to the battery. If you just put the intake on and don't disconnect the battery it will take a few days or a few miles to reset. It is a good idea to disconnect the battery every time you do a mod to the engine so the computer can reset, and I think it will clear out any trouble codes that you have. If you do not don't worry it will reset in a few days.

youre right... i didnt disconnect the negative battery terminal like it said to in the instructions. haha i am dumb. thanks an.

um...did it get cold(er) where you live recently? the mean temp here in charleston dropped by about 20 degrees the past couple of weeks, and the car pulls MUCH better than on those muggy hot summer days.

Whoa, you're from Charleston?? I'm 40 minutes away from you, I'm from Orangeburg. Hehe, small world. Anyway, yea the colder temps here are having a good effect on my engine performance as well.

Yes the ECU has to reset the trim values to adjust to mods. And cold air is a beautiful thing.
*flashback*... ahh yes I remember when those first few mods helped gas mileage... not anymore.
