Posted by typegs, Oct-21-02 09:18 AM
I HAVE SOME MONEY TO SPEND ON THE ENGINE!
And I have decided to Buy th Apex I SAFC, however I dont Know If its worth it? Look at my mods and tell me if I should Buy it. How much power should I except to gain from it and what should I except to pay for the Install? PLEASE RESPOND ASAP, I AM GOING TO BUY IT TOMORROW AT 4:00 TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

P.S. My friend has a 1999 Firebird 6cyl he pulls about 2 car lanes on me right now would the SAFC help me close that gap and sit next to him?

I think with proper tuning you could extract about 3-5 hp from a super afc. Now if you had a turbo....

Thura (Avenger here) dynoed with his AFC tuned, then zero'd it and lost 8HP. They're worth it.

Is the 3-5 worth it? Will I catch the Firebird?

install it yourself. i did mine and it is a piece of cake. there is a write up on it and you should just go from there. let me know if you do need help. by the way, i still need to get a new o2 sensor before i get mine dyno tuned.

TypeGS, the S-AFC allows you to fine the fuel curve, but I don't think the 5-8 whp gained from it will close the gap between you and the Trans Am. You'll probably need about 50 hp to be even with the Bird.

Still 8hp isn't going to close that big of a gap. No on emad is going to clos ethat gap. Except a turbo, or maybe a quad TB set up (a custom one). But neither are exactly cheap.

The gap is only two carlanes and I think with the UDP I should be able to catch him. After I bought my Greddy Header I closed the 5 lane gap that he had on me down to about 2 carlanes. Are you sure I cant catch him with the UDP?

I would say that your driving improved at around time that you got the header. It really does nothing in a drag race, but seems to provide mid-RPM power. Either that, or he got worse at driving. :P At this rate, you won't even need mods! An UDP will give 8-12 HP, and the sAFC (properly tuned) can give 8 HP. Check out the modifications section of the main site for more info.
