35391, What should my next mod be?
Posted by MY1997TALON, Oct-21-02 07:14 AM
I have a 1997 Talon ESI 5-speed. It has 29000 miles. What should my next mod be? I have AEM Cold Air kit and Apexi N1 exhaust. My goal is low to mid 15's.

Thanks, Jason Mcclure

Get Energy Suspension Motor mounts if you don't already have them. The BEST $30 you will EVER spend on the car.

The engine mounts will help performance and 1/4 mile times? Are they hard to install?

Thanks, Jason Mcclure

They will reduce your wheel hop on the take off's, letting you get a better take off. And there for beter 60's and then better 1/4 mile time. They are not that hard to install, the front takes about 20 min and the rear is a bitch to get to and can take some time. Just have Patience

What about wheels? Bigger wheels will help you corner better and better tires will also help you launch better, and even drop your 1/4 times. Just to be clear, bigger wheels will slow you down but better tires on stock wheels will help alot.

What is a clutch restrictor mod?

Mods: Airbox modification, NGK-BKR5E spark plugs. There was a filter at the end of the stock intake pipe, but i ran over it.

Oh my! I forgot the UDP, yes definately well worth the money.

Clutch restrictor mod IMO is a must. I hated the feel of the stock clutch. Too indefinate, never a good feel, very indirect. You could pop the clutch and the clutch would only release so fast. Hated that. I have removed the restrictor and installed a SS clutch line, now all is good. It feel like a linkage clutch.

There should abe a link from the main page to a "how to"

In the Clutch slave cylinder there is a restrictor that only allow so much fluid to pass through. If you remove this you get full pressure to the cylinder and the clutch grabs quicker and better. The SS line is only $20 from Road Race, I recommend that too.
