okay, so my wheels arrived yesterday (they're absolutely gorgeous!). they were a replacement for two bent wheels and 4 bald tires. why not spend the extra $ to get nicer wheels, right? anyway, this of course means that i have to lower the car, etc to get it to look right. so much for my bigscreen tv by xmas. :)

so...once all that crap is done, you *know* i have to get an exhaust...which of course also means an intake (i was holding off on all of this because i'm trying to buy a house). but back to the exhaust - i'd like a catback, nothing to outrageous, don't want the bumblebee sound, but i'd still like some good performance for the money.

you guys got pics, dyno specs, and recommendations? i know you do! help yo brotha from anotha motha out! thanks!

I'm going to go the custom route. I'm looking for a deep tone and dual outlet.I'm going to use a Hooker Aero Muffler and a resonator of some kind. I hear Magnaflow's also have a nice deep tone to them.

The dynomax on my Neon has a good sound to it, but is in need of a resonator, I get a nice drone at highway speeds.

deffinatly do a catback....weld on muffler sections will sound ok but be higher pitched....just about all the catbacks around are gonna give close to the same HP....probably 3-4 to th wheels...anyways I have an apexi dunk catback and it sounds killer...not loud, but not quiet and deffinatly not like a honda...its deep and agressive...

^^^^^^ill have to disagree with that. i have a weld on muffler with dual outlet tips that flare up, anyways, i have a friend who got some apex-i cat back exhaust and my car is way lower toned that his at all rpm's. when i first had my car, alot of people thought it was a v-8 cuz it was so deep toned. and even at high rpm's, mine dosent scream, its not really hi pitched at all, even then.

not always true. I have heard N1 cat-backs that sound raspy or high pitched.

I think it was mentioned before that our engines basically dont have that bee buzz sound. That is more common to hondas. Yes the tone of the exhaust depends a lot on the power plant its put on.

the n1 is kinda raspy as compared to the greddy which is deep toned at all times. i have the greddy sport cat-back and love it. here is a pic kinda.

I think the Honda "bee" sound is because they have 1.6l engines in them. I don't know this for a fact, but it makes sense.

You can get the bee sound on our cars if you take off the cat on the stock exhaust. Sounds just like the Hondas. I had an extra long resonator welded to the stock exhaust to get rid of that(I hate that bee sound). That worked allright. That is till last week - got myself a GS-T catback. The GS-T catback has an extra resonator(bout 6-8 inches worth) and a dual tip muffler. It sounds nice(without a cat).

it probably has to do with the fact that their cars were designed with a 1" tip. LMAO. Honda tips are so small.
