I saw that/posted that a while ago, its a nice setup that can be done for under 250 bucks, Im gonna try it sometime, but you will need some sort of haltech/s-afc for fuel enrichment and a nice cam and higher rev limit is whats really needed to make any good use out of it.
Your car would be a dog driving around in traffic/street Its basically only a strip only mod IMO.
But if you did that/got some cams/higher compression pistons/fuel enrichment/raised rev limit and lost at least 500 lbs from the car it could easily make a 14 sec NA eclipse

Thats not necessarily true. You could make the runners longer.
Short runners-High rev top end power
Long runners-more torque on low end but might loose a little on top end.
It all depends on how you build your set-up.

yeah have fun making the runners long enough and ones that can fit under the hood, you would need an extra 12 inches of clearance under the hood or do some crazy pretzel looking manifold

We make decent torque on our stock manifold and check out how long the runners are.
This set-up on a 2.4L motor would make a monster }>
Plus who said I can't aim them downwards? That roughly 7.5 inches to work with. (Trust me I measured)

... and notice they mentioned somewhere in there that it would work with a stock ecu. Hmm.... A bit cheaper than a turbo kit... and as far as i know, nobody in a dsm has done it. Oh well, as exciting as it sounds, my broke ass cant afford that either....

Possibly, he just said he had the stock ECU on there when he started it up and it idles with the stock ECU but then he switched to the afx race ECU so no real testing was done with the stock ECU, it just idles

That doesn't mean anything at all - all the basic functions are identical between the stock ECU and an AFX ecu.

With all this talk, i thought i'd pass on an interesting link i came across. It's a company in Europe that sells individual throttle bodies that someone who was enterprising (and wealthy)enough could use to craft one of these spiffy QuadTB setups.....

If this setup converts low end to top. Does that mean that quads on a 2.4L would convert the torque to horsepower?

wow that's pretty badass this looks like a way to make our cars into monster all motor cars. True you'd need to rev high to get that power but hey that's how you gotta drive it. Bwahaha imagine turbo charged ITB setup :P lotsa fabricating for that though, basically you'd have to make a box for the ITBs. Another good reason to do this is that we already have MAP sensors so you can runn it open intake if you wanted, you don't need to run all the air through a AFM box. You might have to do a lotta tuning though to get it to run properly, modded 16V 4age w/ ITBs gets ass mileage compared to a 20V 4age. Another problem you might run into is that our intake is in the back of the engine bay, so we don't have as much room as the neon guys, we might have to hack away at the firewall and create some kinda air scoop to get some air in there.
here are pix I took of individual TBs on corolla GTSs. I hear the throttle response is awesome and it sounds awesome too.
AE101 Black Top 20V 4age (note: engine comes stock with ITBs!, thing gets like 30 MPG too!)


This is a blue or red (can't really tell) top 16V 4age with an ITB setup. The old 4age uses AFM so you have to convert it to MAP to use these without those gay AFM boxes. I heard this thing gets horrible mileage.

This mod is the MOST important mod for a car that wants to be N/A. This will increase the airflow by 50% or so but you will need cams and high compression to see huge power gains. I have done some research already into this as well as a box for doing quad TB's and turbo. I have a quad TB setup with (4) 46mm TB's from a crotch rocket that I found on ebay.
Here's some pics of a TB setup with a box. This could be done on a Turboed Eclipse 420A with a custom intake manifold/ quad TB and custom piping and a fiberglass/carbonfiber box.

It's a mod planned n my future, it's just a matter of figuring out a few details and picking the route I want to go and what to use.

What is the throat spacing? How are the butterflies linked?
I've been contemplating using 4 stock 46mm TB's and having an adapter plate CNC'd. Vacuum rail and a rail to link he IAC ports to run one IAC. The only problem right now is funds. Then it would be R&D time. The easiest way I could design it... costs a lot, so I've been looking for a cheaper alternative.

I'd say the cheapest route is to build your own kit from dem junkyard TBs. The greatest accomplishment would be to use stock ECU also instead of all that standalone garbage. Haha if you could do this with not spending so much money like that neon guy you gotz skills. You could use a MSD ignition to increase the rev limiter correct? Or hope the TTI racing ECU comes out hehe. (oww nevermind I just checked the site out 1600!! haha 140000 redline though :P) ludicrous! haha I still think it'll cost hella $$$$$ to do this. it's still cheaper to go turbo.
haha that manifold is awesome is that a old 4g63 or something? Like a 4G62? You can see through the box and see the throttles opening :)

I think done right stock ECU will be fine, especially with my S-AFC. I would not buy TTI racing ECU, or AEM... to new to the game. I would go Electromotive TEC-3 without a doubt.
I honestly think the quad Tb set up could be made for around $500? depends on machinist's costs. I may be way off though. Once my exhaust is done and my P&P head is built and on, my attention turn to the quad TB. In my spare time I will do some R&D.

You can get the ITB for 200 bucks or so, plus maybe 100 bucks welding work, plus maybe 50 bucks in mtg brackets, etc.. Its a very cheap way of doing it.

Would this mod change our intake manifold type from tunnel ram to Individual Runner as state on this site I found. http://www.grapeaperacing.com/GrapeApeRacing/tech/intaketypes.cfm If so, why would this mod hurt your low end power?
