34715, Car smells when i floor it

In case you didnt know, i got a new eninge and it has roughly 700 miles on it. Anyway, when i floor it, i've only done this a few times, i smell something. I really cant say what it is. Its not burning oil, its not gasoline, but its a smell.

Is this normal? Will it go away after i put more miles on the engine?

It could be an exhaust leak and when the engine richens up it smells more. Does it smell sort of like gassy exhaust? I noticed you don't have a header. I do and mine leaks right where it meets the block. Normally I don't smell it unless I drive it hard or come to a stop after driving for a while. I know why mine leaks, it's because my friend didn't use any sealer when we put the header on. I would check the exhaust for any cracks or maybe there's a gasket going bad at your cat. Hope this helps a little.

Just noticed you only have 700 miles on the new engine, so it COULD be the engine but I don't know if it would even smell or not. You would have to ask someone who has replaced an engine before.

It isn't a rubbery-burning smell, is it? Wonder if the newly found power is making the tyres spin... ;)
Seriously, though, if it is any kind of an exhaust smell, a leak may be opening up when you nail the throttle and the motor torques back. I had an intermittant leak because of this. My solution? Did I replace the gasket? NO! I got motor mount inserts. ;) At least my new setup has all new gaskets, except for the rear section to muffler portion, and that will all be replaced soon enough. :D
