Just wanted to know...

Cos i went in for my tune-up today...and complained of a loose/unresponsive clutch pedal..they came out and told me that it was on its way out big time..like had maybe 2 weeks left on it at most..My car just passed 72,000 miles this week..does the OEM clutch usually last that long, or am i just an unlucky one who had it go early? my buddy has a 1990 Mitsu Eclipse turbo, and he JUST replaced the OEM clutch at 100,000 miles..thats quite a bit of time if you ask me...i dont drive the car hard THAT often, but then again, i've only owned for 12,000 miles, and before that, the car belonged to a guy in the marine corps..so...

Well i'm at about 74,000 miles, and stock clutch, held 10 psi of boost without any slipping at all, and a few track runs, and of course the many stop light races in between. Thats really pushing the stock clutch :) But the life of it, really depends on how it was driven. If it was grannied, then it will last over 150,000 miles for sure. Some clutches can wear out in less than 50,000 miles if treated harshly. It just all depends, but i'll tell you this, our stock clutches are pretty damn good. 100,000 miles shouldn't be out of the question, with a decent amount of abuse..

84K miles. 14K miles at 11psi an it doesn't slip at all. When I had the motor out at 81K there was a lot of disk still left.

sounds like ya may want to have another shop check that clutch out.. perhaps the clutch is just adjusted wrong or got some air in the lines or something.

yep I'm at oh 98k right now clutch still grabbin, kinda slippin though.. But hey I just chirped it in 2nd for a full 4 seconds on a take off when I smoke this stang so I'd say it still got some grab. I autox, highway battle, drift, and track race this car so it's take some abuse. But I don't treat it bad either, I always heel and toe or double clutch. I've done clutch restrictor mod also. So that sucka is one strong clutch.

car used to be my dad's, but he said it dropped just shy of 60k, had it replaced, it's now at 153k on the second clutch... seems just dandy to me. (i hope) this will be close to 100k (rounding up) on this one, hopefully it'll last me for another 50k

The stock clutch is fantastic. I've had mine only for 54k miles, but been boosting on it for over 30k miles of those miles.

If I get an aftermarket clutch half as good as this one, I'll be elated.

I can only speak from my experience.

I've got just over 40,000 miles on my car (yup it finally hit the big 40!) and at least 170 drag runs (maybe more like 200, I have to count the time slips ;) ) and it's still grabbing fine, no problems at all, and the grab point hasn't moved higher (meaning it's not wearing that badly).

If you don't slip it all the time and don't rest your foot on the clutch pedal when you drive, it should hold up for quite some time.

Just replaced mine along w/ my tranny that shot a diff pin through the tranny case in second gear at about 30 mph. Not my fault on that one. Not much I can do though. But yeah, before this happened, the clutch started slipping, probably around 70,000 miles, I drove it for about 2000 miles, and then the diff pin went through the case forcing me to replace the clutch along with the tranny. I personally, have no faith in our trannys, or any part of them.
