Posted by My9t5Talon, Oct-04-02 02:28 PM
I'm picking up my TB from the NorCal 2GNT meet next week and want to get it sent off as soon as possible, but where?

I need some suggestions based on your guys personal experience, turnaround time, price...and the performance 'that you can feel', on where to get it bored...also anything else you guys that have done this, feel I should know...woould be greatly appreciated!!!

Most guys send them out to howell for a 55mm bore. Recently, some guys have been sending them to ARD for a 57mm bore. It cost about the same at each place for the 55mm bore (about a 100) and about 30 bucks more for the 57 at ARD. There is arguement as to whether the extra 30 or so is worth it for the 2mm. I say if you are planning on going turbo or are turbo go for the 57. If not, a 55 gives a real nice throttle response.

i went w/howell, but ard wasnt around... they did port my intake mani, and i wasnt too impressd, but i still felt gains...

55mm is the optimum, or actuallly, its slightly larger than the optimum size for our 1997cc engine (w/stock compression)... afx put up a formula for air flo...

for turbo appications, the bigger the better...

turnaround time was about a week, but send howell 105, not 100, u gotta pay for return shippin too :(

Send it to Howell. While i know the ARD guys personally, what they say is 57mm is exactly like Howell's 55mm, they just use a bigger throttle plate. ARD's flows more due to some other neat things they do. I can't say how much each costs, but whichever one is cheaper is the one to do - they're honestly exactly the same.
