33853, udp - after installation question Posted by DSMeclipseGS, Sep-28-02 02:35 PM
I got my udp installed today. I picked it up and i liked the pickup. Then I went out today and when i got back to my car to go home, everything was fine. On the road I happened to glance at the dash and I saw the battery light on. Then about 10 seconds later it shut off. I have no clue how long it was on but I was only driving for maximum 5 minutes. I don't THINK it was on when I turned the car on but I am not 100% sure.
I am thinking it has something to do with the udp. Maybe the battery is not charging after the belts were changed. Or maybe they are a little loose???? Anyone ever get this, or is it normal?? Thanks.

No that is not common, my first guess is that your alternator belt is not tight enough. If that belt slips then your alternator is not spinning fast enough to charge the battery. Check the belts... if the belts are tight I would have your electrical system tested.

exactly what ^^^ said... tighten up your belts.
it is very common for new belts to "stretch" a lil bit after installing them...
and you should always go back and tighten the belts a lil more after puttin new ones on after a day or two... but in your case, and hour or two...
(same thing happend to me after my udp install)
good luck
