33710, Please help me w/ my CEL problems
Posted by icjeclipse, Sep-26-02 11:56 AM
Ok, ever since RRE changed my headgasket (3 months ago) i have been getting a CEL, i always thought it was "33" (A/C clutch relay) but i think it may be "21" and "21" (02 sensors).

"33" clutch relay. My A/C has been working great and is as good as ever, so i don't think it is that.

"21" and "21", is it possible to het two of the same codes? Does this mean i have 2 bad o2 sensors? I highly doubt it cause i passed california's smog test with flying colors.

The car runs great and RRE doesn't know whats wrong either.

I need this fixed because my car is for sale and i am probably going to sell it this weekend. Please help

Yeah, it's possible to get multiple 21s. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds then reconnecting it. It may or may not come back on. If it does come back on, then one of your o2 sensors is failing. If your car runs good and passes emissions it's probably the back one. Mines broken in half and it doesn't do anything to the performance of the car, it just gives me a CEL.

Keep in mind that all of you guys reading those two digit codes are reading old OBD I codes, which dont tell you shit. If you really want to know what's going on, you need to be able to read the real OBD II's. You'll either need a real tester or a shop to help you with that. Dont spend too much money till you get the full scope. OBD II codes give a lot more info, they also will throw specific manufacturer codes.

go to autozone (its free), they will pull the real p0xxx codes and that will tell you exactly which o2 is out etc..

Hey Ian try resetting your ECU by disconnecting the battery for 20 mins or so. It should go away at least for a while. How did you find a buyer for your car? I need some tips, since I want to sell mine as is also. Did you put it up in autotrader or just knew someone?
