My car is auto but I thought it should reach 130 max rpm. Just wondering if it should shift at some point. Anybody got a way to hook it up so u can know what gear an auto is in.

You can tell what gear your in if you count from when the car shifts. Its pretty obvious. And if your 100+mph I am sure its in 4th gear.

Right about 100 I have to turn on OD to go faster, then about 120-125 it hits some sort of barrier (rev limiter?) and it will drop off very quickly, sending the rpm's back down to 3500-4000 and slows back to 115 or so.

it all depends on wind speed, if you have one of those hugh ricer wings, body kits, tire size, etc... Why you would want to go over 100 is way beyond me but hey its your life, just make sure your not on any roads with people around, you have Z rated tires and are ready to kiss your ass goodbye in an instant.

The main problem with that "barrier" is converter lock-up. If you could get a switch to control lock up, then you would basically have a 5 speed auto. In a way, but not really. It would have 1st, 2nd, D, OD, and then lockup at the push of a button to drop revs to a safer level for solid crusing at high speeds.

OK, not trying to sound mean but... This is EXACTLY what we do not need, 16yr olds driving at this speed with less than a yrs driving experience.

damn i sure must be de-sensitized to speed. i find it comforting while at a cruz of 100+. although it sure is weird how going from 100 to 110 feels like more of an increase than 45-65. and the feeling of speed increase only becomes more concentraed the faster you go. i dont know if you guys have noticed the same thing, but my car takes on a whole new personality almost right around or beyond 100. i had been over these speeds in many cars before, from hot rods to mini vans, but it felt different in the eclipse. after 100 in the eclipse, i can feel the car sucking to the ground and it feels more solid than when im crusing at only 75 down the freeway. so i did some research (quite some time ago so i cant remember where) and i learned that our cars body stylings have a very good design for high speed stability/handling. this along with a nice HIGH QUALITY lowering, and your talking about one enjoyable car for high speeds. of course despite all of this, and how comfortable i am with high speed driving, i never let my head leave reality. i may take the car over 100 on a regular basis, but i am never the asshole that you see weaving in and out of cars, or cruzing past 70mph traffic while going 100+ in the next lane. that garbage makes me sick. but when im driving down the highway i know very well on my z rated tires at 3 in the morning with nobody else in sight, i see it as just my choice to risk getting a ticket. under these circumstances, including a very good/big history of driving, i wouldnt think of it as too big of a risk. but please, if your situation doesnt include the above at minimum, dont bother going fast until it does. (oh yeah add radar detector to the list) :thumbsup

try being a passenger in a 8 second supra doing close to 150, that is some scary shit. The dampers on the susp. literally push the supra to the ground. 120 on the highway is some scary shit in an eclipse. Too many variables to worry about so i've only done it 2 times, both were laaaaate night and somewhere in damascus. IM with weasle too though, nobody with little experience needs to try driving that fast. Too many fucked up things kill people these days, no sense in purposely doing something mad dangerous.
