33612, Question about compression??
Posted by REV_GSlow, Sep-25-02 08:15 AM
Im rebuilding my car as we speak, and i just have a few questions about the compression. Cylinder one gave 115 psi, while two through four gave well over 200..around 215 for them. The cylinder walls still have the honing marks, which i thought was weird because im pushing 123,000 miles. My head gasket did not have any tears, nor did it show any leaks. Before i tore the car down i had serious hesitation, and the car just sounded like crap. The head itself is very dirty, and the valves look just fine. I really dont understand why my first cylinder would blow only 115. Im having the head sent in to a shop tomorrow for cleaning and analysis, but i was just wondering if any of you guys or girls knew what the problem could be? TIA

From what im told, the cylinder walls would have marks, or stains on them from the blowby if i had bad rings. Like i said before, all four cylinder walls look as though they were just honed yesterday.

compression loos in 3 ways, hole in piston or headgasket failure, valves bent and or open when testing and piston rings and or blow by those are you 3 ways lata
