33194, cooling system question

I'm no genious, but my lower radiator hose is still factory, on a 95 with 153k miles. it's a little brown, when car is cold the hose is really easy to squeeze, it's not stiff, and looks a little larger (cross sectional area) than normal, i think. do you think it should be replaced? also if i replace it I'd also change the thermostat just to be on the safer side (that and I'd have the radiator drained). Does it matter where I get one? is napa good or should i go to a dealer?

Might as well replace that hose before it breaks. Its pretty damn old and easy/cheap to replace. Might as well do the thermostat too. Thats cheap and easy also. You will probably need a thermostat housing gasket when you change the thermostat.

there is a gasket for the thermostat housing? I thought that I saw someplace that there isn't one. Thanks though, I was thinking about doing that. One prob, I'm at school and that is 250 miles from home, I don't wanna be changing things here, think it'll last?

Don't worry about it...just fix it when you come home for fall break or something. Consider replacing the upper radiator hose if you do the thermostat. There is indeed a thermostat housing gasket which often breaks when you open the housing to replace the thermostat.

cool thanks man... I appreciate it, don't need to worry about upper one though, I replaced it about a year ago. it was ballooning so much it was causing the stock "heat shield" thingy on it to crack and split down the middle.
