ok so i was driving to the store, and i decided to get on the gas a little... i was in second gear and was at about 6000 rpms when suddenly the clutch kicked out of gear on its own. i tried to put the car back into gear, but it wouldn't go. i came to a red light, and at low rpms, the car went into gear fine. i drive about 300 feet and noticed that there was little pressure in the clutch pedal, it was simple to press the pedal down. i pulled into the store parking lot, and that's when hell broke loose. the pedal would go all the way to the floor way too easily, and from that point on, i couldn't get my car into any gears. it seemed like there was no pressure what so ever in the clutch pedal. the car would not go into gear unless it was turned off. i turned it off, then turned it back on, and there was a horrible vibration whenever i pressed on the clutch... let off the clutch, and the vibration went away for the most part. i got out and looked in the engine bay while the engine was running, and i notice that there's a slight squeal coming from the transmission casing. i turned the car off, checked the clutch fluid level, it was fine. i had to call a flatbed to tow me 1 mile back to my house, and it was a bitch because i had to take the front bumper off to get it up on the truck. any ideas guys. i just had mitsubishi check out my clutch like a month ago because it was tough to shift into gears at high rpms. they said my clutch was completely fine, not slipping at all, and they blamed it on my short throw shifter, so i changed it back to stock, and that didn't really help the problem. i talked to someone else, and he said my syncros were going, and i talked to another guy and he said my master cylinder was going. is there any way to test the master cylinder or slave cylinder before i pay the labor to have my actual tranny opened?

my car's in the garage now, i started it and overlooked the engine while it ran. theres a squeal noise whenever i engage the clutch. when i disengage it, it goes away. also, the engine has a bad vibration to it now. anyone have any ideas?

sounds to me like if you have a squeel when you push in the clutch, that your throwout bearing is dead. That shouldnt cause a vibration though... Is the car vibrating all the time whether the clutch is in or out? If so, then I would imagine that you either have loose/missing bolts in your flywheel or flexplate.

the vibration is constant. never stops. it doesn't matter whether the clutch is in or out.

I'd say then that your flywheel/pressure plate is out of balance then. Something either broke or came unbolted would be my guess. You might be able to tell by pulling off the lower plate that covers the bellhousing. The plate I'm talking about is under the engine on the tranny side of the oil pan. If you pull that off, you can see the flexplate and clutch. you can crank the car over with a wrench on the crank and see the clutch from all angles. You may not be able to see it though if the bolts just came loose and the assembly is just out of balance, but if its broken, you should find some evidence there.
