hey guys i wasthinking can we use a smaller radiator. Not in thickness but lenght like the ones that honda's use. Can a honda fluodine radiator be used and the customize the piping on it. I am looking to do this so i can do a custom turbo setup that i been wanting to do but i need extra space. Will using one of these radiator mess any flow of water or cooling the car.

This is an interesting topic considering we're having quite a few members experiencing overheating problems lately. Has anyone found a stock radiator from a different type of car that is bigger or works better than our stock one??

For instance, the stock 4g63 radiators are the same height and width as ours, but the core is twice as thick. Unfortunately, the inlets are in the middle on top of the radiator and on the passenger side at the bottom, which is almost the complete opposite of ours, so running new hoses would be a challenge. The bottom could be done fairly easy, but the top hose would probably touch the exhaust housing on our turbos or sit VERY close to it.

Are there any other radiators that would be a better fit without having to buy the $400 Fluidyne??

Compare the radiator of the auto with the stick tranny
auto is almost twice as thick
so for a stick car the radiator of an auto is a real upgrade

Wow that's interesting. Good to know incase I ever have problems.

But dsmlights- you really shouldn't need to move the starter and radiator to fit a turbo in there. The NER manifold is equal runners and IT fits.

ummm 420avanger i have been thinking about using the ner manifold i know it has space and shawn did tell me that he uses a t4 front housing on his turbo and that is what i got. But i am just concerned about the turbine housing (back housing) i have a mitsu back housing i just need to cut and weld a diff flange. I just don't know if it will come out good or not and if i willl have enough space in the bottom of the flange to screw the turbo in....


what do you guys think ab out this?

I thought the auto was thicker cause there's 3 coolers in there, but only one that was a "radiator"...

Don't we just have same radiator, auto tranny cooler (very small, just a length of tubing), and A/C condenser?

well, the radiator and tranny cooler are the same , well bult in together. the condensor is about 5 inches shorter and only 1 inch thick and it sits in front of the radiator in my gs. it is a totaly independent item from the radiator.

Corbin and I were looking at this possibility for my problems. The a/c condenser is seperate and I understand the tranny cooler only runs across the bottom of the unit. But I still can't understand a car going from haveing a blown HG with oil in the coolant, a stock thermostat and rad cap, and a unflushed cooling system with no overheating problems. To a car with a new HG, a new water pump, a 160 degree thermostat, a new rad cap and a flushed cooling system with 2 bottles of watter wetter, and a new upper rad hose and be having an overheating problem. How does that make sence?

well same here. the car went from great at climbing hills and such to overheating so bad it melted my fan( yes went like butter). It would drink the radiator fluid like it was gatorade or something. No there was none in the oil and there was no iol in the radiator . so I just went and bought a new radiator, 90 dollars at a local manufacturer that I found... solved my problems.

Could the radiators actually develop small hairline cracks that allow small amounts of pressurized coolant to leak out when hot? I keep adding coolant/water every so often. No oil in coolant, and no white smoke, and i'm not to keen towards puting those sealer things into my radiator. Hmm... wish i had the dough for a fluidyne....
