I just had a whole exhaust system installed on my car (headers, highflow cat/straight pipe, and cat back) The cat back piping is aluminized piping and i dont want it to turn to a dull brown rust color. I want to paint it a blue color and was wondering if anyone knew of a true high intesity heat paint that wont burn off. My exhaust system will look cool: blue headers, Polished stainless highflow cat, blue piping, polished stainless muffler.

The high temp paints for blocks work fine. I'm not sure about putting it on a header, but I wouldn't paint the exhaust b/c it's going to be hit by rocks and KS/MO roads not to mention, I have aluminized exhaust and it's the same color from the day I welded it together. You might want to spray some high temp paint around the welds b/c they will rust and not look good, but it will be a LONG time before they rust out.

When I got my GST muffler I paint the whole thing in the DupiColor High Heat paint (I think 1500 degrees) from Autozone/Pepboys. Has held up to this day. I know they make a blue b/c I've thought about it for my wifes car.

Yeah Ford blue, which is the color of my valve cover since I had some left over after I built a motor.

actually, the header is already powdercoated blue...the only thing im painting is the cat back piping. Thanx techboy, ill try out that paint you recommended.

yeah, duplicolor makes two kinds of 'high heat' paint, both ceramic based :) , one for blocks and engine assemblies (good for up to 500 degrees in short bursts) and exhaust stuff (good for up to 1600 degrees in short bursts) also with the exhaust stuff after you put it on you must 'set' the paint by running it at a high temperature for a certain amount of time (it says it on the can). but that stuff specifically for the exhaust should work great and last a long time, especially on the cat-back part cause it won't get nearly as hot as the header. oh yeah, it comes in tons of good colors too.

I used it on my my custom intake piping because of it's ceramic properties (help reflect heat away), so the intake will stay just a little cooler, seems to work great.
