a lightened flywheel will get a little more power to the ground (the engine won't actually be making anymore power). it's like putting a UDP on.. but it's main benifit is that the motor will rev and de-rev much quicker with a lightened flywheel. which can be good and bad.

i explained this in the message ya sent me, but i'll post here so everyone can see if they are wondering. the main thing is that because they rev and de-rev so quickely shifting smoother will become harder because it will be harder to match the engine and tranny speeds, and also on easy launches it'll be easier to kill the engine because it does have as much weight backing it up to get the car initial started.
So.. it's not that the car will be any 'harder' to drive, just that'll it'll take more finess and skill to drive it well and smoothly. If anyone has riden a sport bike they will know what i'm talking about, about revin and de-revin quickly and the launches and all that, just takes more finess.

Yeah they will give slight gains in power, but it will rev down much faster, so if turbo, that may hinder spool just slightly.. The best one that I know of is the "Fidanza" flywheel. It quite a bit lighter, made of aluminum..

I have the Fidanza flywheel and I can vouch for everything that has been said here. It indeed does take more finess to launch well, but I like the way it feels more that way. It makes the car feel more "sporty" imo.

i alos have the Fidanza, but i just got mine installed yesterday so i have to break in my clutch before i really get on it, but yeah it does take some more effort to lauch perfectly.
