31825, Header question
Posted by JamieKS, Sep-03-02 02:18 PM
I was thinking about purchasing the pacesetter headers for my eclilpse rs but i was wondering if anyone has tried them before and if they noticed any difference in power. Also if anyone has had good experiences with other brands of headers i'd appreciate your input on that. Thanks alot

I don't have headers myself (saving to go turbo) but alot of guys really like the gredy 4-1 headers. Watch the F/S conference - they pop up on their once a month or so.

ive got the greddy header....They make an ok power difference, but IMO, not worth $400.....Ive come to the conclusion that bolt ons just dont cut it with the 420A..... Header made less than the AEM cold air.

I like my Greddy header, once again probably not worth the 400+ bucks they cost. The biggest change I noticed was the sound, it took out all the raspy sounds out of my exhaust note.

My Pacesetter did the opposite, it caused a raspy sound. It only does it until it warms up.

I bought a used Bosal header (4-2-1) from one of the members here for 150 shipped. It retails for like 350. If you can manage to find a used one buy it. If you are planning on going turbo I wouldn't worry about it because you will have to take it off when you turbo anyways. Hope this helps.

Edit: forgot that mine definately did decrease the raspy sound a lot, even when it's cold.

Pacesetter headers are inexpensive for a reason. I know that some members of the board have Pacesetter and do not have any problems with them, but I know of a couple of people, including 2G NTs that have had their Pacesetter header destroyed. Pacesetter's welds are crappy. They tend to break with time. In my opinion, go with another brand like Hotshot, GReddy, or Bosal. Good luck

I love my Hooker Header, it's a 4-1 design, I'm happy with the results. But the design is important. I've heard Paceseeter aren't as good as others, but I would bet still an improvement. If you are not going turbo get yourself a header, but probably look away from Pacesetter.

there cheap for a reason, I had 1 for 4 years and this past summer a weld broke and made a nice hole, but I bought a new one for 130 and it was all good. to me they dont make much power, they give you just a lil bit of torque.

I have a HotShot header and it's friggin sweet. It helps out top end and smooths out acceleration all around. I got it put on with a full exhaust n whatnot though, so i am just guessing on the exact benefits it gave me. ;)

^Exactly. The equal legnth runners smooth it out and the exhaust gas pulses from combustion don't run into each other lik ether do with the stock manifold.

i had greddy headers before.. ok not worth 400 bucks.. find a good deal on hotshot headers and you will not cry about how much money you wasted.. dang $400 bucks could have got me how many gals of 100 octane =)... a intake will give you the most power for the buck...

Dont mind the Honda behind the curtain! :P anyways, that is the COMPBLU version of the Airmass header made by Holley. They just started making it for our cars and i believe will be out in 2-3 months.

hey guys, maybe you guys felt something with the udp but for sure hell i did not feel the $160 bucks plus labor to put that on. best bang for the buck would be a intake for the cost, and how simple it is .. when i was n/a with that udp i felt more power if i lost 5pounds then that..:7 just my opinion ..oh yah i had the basic bolt ons, aem intake, greddy header,s bored tb, exhaust, and that stupid udp.. can you see how much i hate that thing? hehe..:rolleyes
