We have the A604/41te right? This tranny is also in the FWD Caravans. The Caravan's also had the option of a 41AE tranny, which is an AWD.

I'm just wondering, if we can bolt-in the AWD tranny into our cars..

I know that it might not be bolt-on in the rear, but some custom brackets or mountings would fix that right?

Also, what happened with the Jeep RWD tranny?

I heard of some possibilities with that.

That would be one helluva job to accomplish that swap, but you may want to consider it might be cheaper to sell your car and get a GSX or a new WRX!!! Lol. I wouldn't want to see the bill for an install like that!

It would be more of a loss in drivetrain than stock set-up for anybody making less than 200 HP at the wheels. The average is something like 20% loss from crank to wheels in our case. For this case the loss would be at least 25-30%. We make about 150 with bolt ons (which is the majority here). With bolt ons the car would make about 100-110 HP to the wheels. I haven't taken into consideration of the extra weight by the drive shaft and transfer case.
Don't get me wrong, it would be bad ass to have AWD and no crankwalk problems. Right now I can't see enough benefits to outweigh the losses. I'm not terribly sure that you have the right trans part number either for the manual unless your talking about the AT.

bleh it's not worth it if it's non sporty AWD. I want rear biased AWD dammit hehe....

that minivan is FWD, not AWD.. and it's actually a mid 12 second car.

Jeep is verticaly mounted engine. We are horizontaly mounted.

Because someone was talking about a Jeep RWD tranny before..

Vertical? It would be a challenge to get a motor (that isn't in a boat) mounted vertically. Our motor is mounted transversely. Left to right, looking under the hood. A RWD is usually longitudinally mounted, meaning front/back. It is possible to weld in a plate to make our motor sit longitudinally, but it is a lot of work. The Base Liberty, however has a 420a, so the RWD transmission would bolt up. Just wouldn't fit in the car well.
