A buddy of mine runs a CNC shop that I used to work at, I learned a little about programming lathes (the machine that would bore it).

I've since forgotten all that shit :) but I might ask my friend to do it for me...what is the widest I can open that sucker up?

I dont think you can bore it on a lathe. I saw another post about this a while back where someone wanted to have a machinist make a custom TB and someone said that the hole isnt perfectly round that its oval shaped so the butterfly seals correctly. I could be wrong though cause ive never checked mine. But I think the largest is like somewhere around 57-59mm. Anyways Im not an expert on CNC lathes but can you bore an oblong?

since u can do it urself, be a guinea pig... bore that sucker to 65mm. :thumbsup

i know the limit is in the mid-upper 50's, just wanted to see if anyone knew...

also...they have vertical mills at the shop too, so if the lathe can't cut it (excuse the pun) there are more options...

You can bore it out yourself on a lathe or a milling machine if you know how to use those pieces of equipment, however you are going to replace/rig your butterfly valve. Once it's bored out the valve won't seal. When you send a TB to howell for boring the fit it with a new butterfly valve for you. So...if you want to try it yourself go for it, but be aware of what your getting into. I suggest picking an extra at a junkyard ahead of time :thumbsup
