Don't you just love a freshly rebuilt engine?? So clean and just begging to be pushed to the max!!

I also like the fact that you ran water cooling lines for the turbo, but isn't that top hose a little long? And where did you tap the bottom hose?

I also like the exh mani heat shielding. Where did you get it, or did you make it yourself?

The picture is kind of deceiveing. The top hose isn't much higher than the valve cover. I had to run it like that or the hose would kink. The return is tee'd into the bottom hard heater hose line just like the top. And yes I made that heat shield. It was pretty easy. Just some sheet metal and tin snips.

That setup is outstanding.(watercooling and heat shield) I'll be doing the engine swapping in a very short time myself. You have to get me an idea of the stuff you used for the water cooling! That's just terrific. And if you could get a pic of the lower tap, we'd all be grateful!! :-) Isn't there a soft line that runs sort of downward off the water lines below the turbo?

Jason there is a soft line on the bottom one just like on the top. What I did was cut about an inch off of the hard lines and put a "T" barb fitting in the middle of the 2 soft lines and clamp it all up. The bottom looks exactly like the top. Anyways I have to work tomorrow then it goes in Saturday and Sunday. I'll post more pics when I get it in and I'll get some pics of the bottom hose and throw them in there. I also have an oil setup worked out that I'll show you when the engine is in stay tuned ;)

Hey matt, good luck with the swap. If you need any tech help at all, either get hold of me or Matt_95tgs(hehe, we got 3 matts here), we just finished his swap, and its still very fresh in our heads :) Of course, the board is the best place to be at regardless. Its not that hard at all, just time consuming. IMO, the best way to do it, will be to pull the whole motor out with the tranny connected. Just take out the axels, all necessary lines and electrical, fuel lines, and vac lines. Pull the radiator, and battery, battery tray, pull off the hood if you like, it will make for more room.Take off the A/C compressor, and power steering pump.After you got all the engine mounts off, lift away! Have fun!

Sweet!! That's definitely my next project too. Looks pretty easy to do, and it's definitely insurance for your turbo.

I think I'm gonna cut another section of the upper hard line out right in front of where the water inlet is on the turbo and put another piece of hose in. Then I'm gonna put the T there so the hose runs straight across.

Which intercooler is that?

BoostedGS: That's a good idea, never thought of that. But I cut some of the line off and it still has the bend obviously but not the loop.

Dirty: It's a 1G T/E/L SMIC.

It's custom. I have about $2300 in the turbo setup including all the gauges and everything. The motor in those pics cost $1500. The luck should be over though. It's in and running. Just gotta make it look pretty and get it all in order. Then I just have to break it in!!!

Good luck with the break in. Hop eevery thing works great now that it's all in. Nice touch on the water cooling.
